SEO PowerSuite is an SEO software suite available for various operating systems, including Mac, Windows, and Linux. It includes four tools – Rank Tracker, Website Auditor, SEO Spyglass, and Link Assistant.
Each tool in the suite acts as a standalone program. And, you can download and install SEO PowerSuite to outrank your competitors right away.
If you’re not planning to invest much in SEO tools, then SEO PowerSuite is the perfect tool for you as you can install the software for free.
But, the question is, does it offer all the advanced features as cloud apps do.
The fact is you won’t get all the features of cloud-based tools like SEMrush or Ahrefs. But, SEO PowerSuite costs less as compared to cloud apps.
Now, we will discuss each tool in the SEO PowerSuite one-by-one.
Rank Tracker is a keyword rank tracking tool that lets you track as many keywords as you want. The tool will help you to create SEO strategies depending on your rankings in SERPs for your target keywords.
To get started with the tool, open the Rank Tracker application on your desktop. Then, enter the URL you need to track.
After clicking on the Next button, you’ll be offered to connect your Google Analytics and Google Search Console account. Although, you can skip this step.
To monitor the keywords, you need to specify the keywords or keyphrases.
Once you enter all of your target keywords, click on the “Next” button. Then, you’ve to choose the search engines. You can even add a search engine for mobile rankings also.
The best thing is it allows you to track national as well as local keyword positions, so you don’t have to worry if your client resides in another country.
Click on the “Add more Search Engines” and add the search engines as many as you want. To customize search results, click on “Add Custom”.
You can add a preferred location as a country, state, city, or an exact address. For further advanced settings, see the image below.
Click on OK and then Finish.
The tool will show the rankings of your site for your entered keywords. The process can take a long time if you’re tracking a large number of keywords.
Now, you can look at the total number of searches for a keyword and its position on various search engines. It helps you to monitor the performance of your keyword across different search engines.
In the lower window, you can view the keyword difficulty and the top 10 search results for the selected search engine.
Within the Rank Tracker, the next most important section is Keyword Research. Here, you can discover the keywords for any domain. You can analyze the organic traffic and the competition for that keyword to outrank your competitors.
Recently, Rank Tracker introduced Keyword Gap which helps you to identify the keywords for which your competitors are ranking but you aren’t.
Furthermore, you can use other features of Keyword Research, including keyword planner, related searches, autocomplete tools, related questions, and keyword combination.
Along with Keyword Research, Rank Tracker also provides you with Competitor Research. You can identify your competitor’s unique keywords and the intersecting keywords between your and your competitor’s domain.
And, the “Top Pages” section lets you discover your competitors top pages according to their organic traffic and the traffic value.
Lastly, you’ll have the Domain Strength which is a quality metric for your website. The domain strength is calculated based on numeric key SEO factors (including domain age, backlinks, social signals, etc.)
Overall, the Rank Tracker tool offers great functionalities that not only saves your time but also helps you to outrank your competitors.
Website Auditor is an auditing tool that similarly examines your website just like the search engine bots and lets you analyze all the pages within your site to improve the performance of your site.
To get started with Website Auditor, you’ve to first enter the URL you want to audit. If your website has thousands of web pages, then it will take a while to generate the results.
Once it’s finished, you’ll be able to see the result of your site audit. The Site Structure is broken down into various parts so you can understand and assess the information more efficiently.
The “Site Audit” section gives an overview of issues that can affect your site indexing, rankings, and user experience. In total, it checks for 40 issues, including duplicate title and meta description, broken links and images, site speed, redirect links, and more.
It’s good to see the tool also analyzes for canonical tags and mobile-friendliness of the site.
The best part?
Click on any of the issues, and you’ll get a list of pages that have been affected due to the specific issues. It also gives you a comprehensive knowledge of what problems will occur if you don’t solve that particular issue.
Now, navigate to the “Visualisations” section that lets you analyze and uncover the problems in your site structure. With this feature, you can instantly see how your web pages are connected.
If you want to check individual pages, like blogs, then go to the “Pages” section. It shows you various information about a page, including word count, bounce rate, and more.
Once you understand your site structure, it’s time to analyze your site content.
Navigate to the “Page Audit” section, where you can analyze your content against your target keywords.
It shows you all the content optimization factors, including title, meta description, body, images, and markup. Additionally, you can also view the technical errors within the page.
Now, you can edit your existing web page content to get a high SEO score. You can increase your optimization rate by monitoring mapped keywords, recommended keywords, competitors, topics and questions.
There’s an in-built tool known as TF-IDF (frequency-inverse document frequency) that lets you improve your page relevance and authority to improve your semantic search performance.
This feature automatically pulls out keywords from your page and generates a list of competitors that are using the same keywords. Further, it recommends you to use various keywords based on the pages of top-ranking sites.
Lastly, you can export the page audit report in PDF format. The reports are fully-customizable and white-labelled. It can be very useful if you want to send an in-detail page audit to your clients.
SEO SpyGlass is a backlink checker tool that allows you to perform comprehensive backlink research. They claim to crawl 7.1 billion web pages daily.
Similar to Rank Tracker, you’ve to first enter the URL you want to analyze. Then the SEO SpyGlass will run a full backlink audit for the entered URL.
Once you click on Finish, the tool will show you an overview of the backlinks, including the history of backlinks, referring IPs, and more.
Linking Domains generates a list of domains connected to your website, that means you can view the location and the number of dofollow backlinks of the specific domain.
You’ll see a column of Inlink Rank which refers to the quality of the backlink. Here, you can find the low-quality backlinks so that you can remove them to maintain your site authority.
Your anchor text must be relevant to your page. It helps users to understand what they are going to find on your page.
For example, if they see an anchor text as “expensive cars”, they want to discover a page discussing expensive cars.
To check your anchor text, navigate to Backlink Profile > Anchor Texts.
You can view the list to identify the irrelevant anchor texts.
As Inlink Rank determines the quality of a backlink, the Penalty Risk lets you identify the backlinks that have a risk of penalty in the future.
The Penalty Score is inversely proportional to the Inlink Rank.
To identify the quality of your backlinks, navigate to Backlink Profile > Penalty Risk.
You can instantly disavow the backlink page that has a high penalty risk.
Click on the “x” to disavow the link. To submit a disavow file to Google, go to Preference > Disavow Backlinks and then export.
The next feature lets you compare the domain age, total backlinks, and domain strength of your competitors. Navigate to Domain Comparison and add the domains you want to compare.
You can add up to 10 domains, but the free version allows you to compare only one domain at a time.
The report shows who is gaining a competitive edge across various parameters. With this feature, you can focus on the areas in which you are lagging compared to your competitors.
Many SEO experts don’t consider Historical Data as a useful feature, but I think it’s one of the important modules in any backlink checker.
SEO SpyGlass offers the historical data of your backlinks. It lets you access the information on how your backlink profile changed over time.
You can use this feature by measuring your marketing campaigns to understand which strategy brings you new backlinks. You can even analyze how the backlink profiles of your competitors changed.
Lastly, you can export the backlink summary report in PDF format. It can be very useful if you want to send an in-detail backlink audit to your clients.
LinkAssistant lets you identify new link building opportunities. Like any other tools of SEO PowerSuite, you’ve to first enter the URL for which you want to discover links.
Then click on “Look for Prospects” and select the appropriate link prospects search method. Depending on your link building strategy, you can choose the prospect from 12 most effective methods.
After selecting the method, you need to enter the keywords or keyphrases and choose the search engine.
Once you add keywords, click on the “Finish” button. LinkAssistant will present you a list of opportunities for your selected prospect method.
Link Building is not just about quantity, but it’s more about quality. That’s why LinkAssistant provides you data on the quality of the prospects. You can check it by clicking on the “Prospect Quality” section.
Afterwards, you can extract the contact information for the generated domains. To do so, right-click on the link and then select update. You’ll see a dialogue box where you have to right-tick the contact info.
Now, it’s time to contact the site owners. Select one or multiple sites you want to contact, and then click the “Email” button.
You’ll be presented with the mail format, if you want to change the template, then select anyone from the drop-down menu.
In the template, the body content will be generated automatically. However, the template sounds a bit clumsy, I recommend you to add your own text and make it sound more authentic.
Once you’re done, click “OK”.
Now, LinkAssistant will take care of everything for you. You can also schedule the emails, the LinkAssistant will send an email on the mentioned date and time.
You can send the link building report to your clients via a shareable link. The reports are customizable and white-label. Even, this process can be scheduled, the LinkAssistant will build reports on autopilot and deliver them to your clients on schedule.
